United Nations World Issues Reflection

June 4, 2007

1.  I learned alot about child soldiers and it just sickes me to think that children our age are warriors. They fight and kill like people in a real army. Not only does the issue worry me but how it happened is just shocking and made me realize that poor people are being picked off the streets or away from their fammilies.  I do think that it is a bit of our fault because weshould also try to help the poor people as well.

2.  I would add some extra detail and more information adn some music because someone in  my group was supposed to bring the music but I forgave them after because they weren’t here on the last class.

1. The new information that has emerged is that the temperature is between 32 and 104 degrees Farenhit.

2. I liked the topic because it wasn’t about people dieing and suffering but about a new discovery that has an impact on the whole world. It also interests me because I am a very curious person.

3. I like how Mei Hui chose a topic that was different in every way from all the other current events that anyone ever did.

Famous Egyption Refletion

April 24, 2007

What would you do if you were to change your speech/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?

I would’nt change my speech because I like it the just the way it is. I would change the way I did my presentation because I think I did’nt put enough expression into it. I also think that I needed something for the bottom part for my costume because I think my costume looked far too plain. I also felt very nervous about my costume and the mascara I put on for my nose and my whiskers. I think Katie had the best costume because she was supposed to be half naked but she still managed to actually sew on a tail to the boxers and was brave enough to go out there and pretend to be Bes wearing boxers!

Bastet

I am docile and aggressive, can you guess? I am Bastet the goddess of domestic cats. My father is Ra the sun god, and my twin sister is Sekhement.

Together we balance the overall power of good and evil. You also probably wonder who I am. Am I important? Why was I worshipped? Your questions will soon be answered.

  What am I goddess of?

I am the goddess of cats, music, fire, pleasure, and joy. I am the protecteress of all pregnant women. Some of you may even know me as Bast the lioness.

Before I became goddess of cats, I was originally the goddess of the sun. If you ever feel happy, I hope you stop to think of me!

  Why cats are so important.

Since I love cats so much, the Pharaoh owned all the cats in Egypt. If anyone harmed my poor little cats, they would be executed. Whenever there was a fire the cats would be saved first and if there was enough time, the humans would be saved as well. Cats that died then came under my service. And never, ever, harm a cat and you will regret it!

  How I am worshipped.

Since people back in ancient Egypt believed cats were demi- gods, I was worshipped through cats. I sometimes get my cat servants to perform a public service to people by getting them to extinguish fires and withdraw its natural power. Thanks to me, I made cats more important. Sekhement and I balance good and evil. My sister Sekhement can be a bit evil sometimes.

Are you now ready to worship me? Do you have enough knowledge to become my servants? Oh well, maybe not yet. And yet again I am Bastet, the cat headed goddess.

2. Who is involved?

  •  The prime minister of Iraq
  • The people who were injured
  • The police

3. Who is affected and how?

The people who died in the bombings are affected because they were innocent people who  lost their lives. Their fammilies are affected as well because they lost their loved ones.

4. What would you do if you were directly invloved?

If I was directly involved I would set bomb detectors every where and make a really big funeral for all the people who died to honor them.

Reflection for wiki #2

February 12, 2007

Reflection

1. what would you change about the final product if you were to do the assignment again?

I would change my location page because their really wasn’t much information at all so I think that I could have definetly done better on that. I know their are alot of things that I could have improved on.

2. Songhai Empire- block E

I liked their wiki because it was full of really interesting information. They also chose really good pictures thst would represent each topic.

Kongo Kingdom- block E

I liked their wiki because it didn’t seem like anything was missing and it was also very easy to navigate from page to page. My favorite page was the region page because I was most interested in that topic. It reflected the Kongo’s culture and people.
